OYAM DISTRICT - The Ministry of Water and Environment, through its Water and Sanitation Development Facility-North (WSDF-N), on Wednesday, October 7, technically handed over completed Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and infrastructure facilities to three schools in Oyam District.

The beneficiary schools are Loro Primary School, Loro Secondary School and Odike Primary School, all under Lot D of project MWE/WSDF-N/WRKS/2024-2025/000003.

The handover marks substantial completion of construction works and the start of a 365-day defects liability period, during which all identified snags will be rectified.

The date for the political commissioning is yet to be fixed and will be communicated to stakeholders.

The facilities were handed over to the school administrations after training in operation and maintenance.

Speaking during the exercise, which started at Odike Primary School and ended at Loro Secondary School, WSDF-N Deputy Branch Manager, Eng. Sinandugu Silvaster, said the intervention is part of the wider Climate Resilience and Water Infrastructure for Refugees and Host Communities Programme in Northern Uganda.

It is being implemented across the Acholi, Lango and West Nile sub-regions in the districts of Oyam, Yumbe, Kitgum, Maracha, Koboko, Pakwach, Nebbi, Lamwo and Omoro.
