Minister Fulfills Pledge to Abunga Parish

Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Sam Engola, has delivered on a promise to provide a vehicle for the Reverend of Abunga Parish. The donation aims to enhance pastoral work, evangelism, and community outreach efforts within the parish.

Vehicle Handover Ceremony

A brand-new Subaru, registered as UA 316 FC, was officially handed over to Reverend Nelson Peter Okullo, the Catechist of Abunga Parish Church of Uganda, during a ceremony at St. Lira Hotel. Benson Emor, representing Minister Engola, stated that the minister had pledged the vehicle in March 2026 to facilitate the Reverend's movements for pastoral duties.

Strengthening Church Mission and Community Ties

The vehicle is intended to bolster the Church's mission of spreading the gospel, conducting pastoral visits, and engaging with local communities. Emor also called for closer collaboration between religious and civic leaders to address social issues such as violence, crime, and domestic abuse affecting families.

Call for Support to Livelihood Initiatives

Additionally, Emor encouraged church leaders to champion government initiatives focused on improving household livelihoods and promoting wealth creation programs among the populace.

Reverend Okullo Expresses Gratitude

Reverend Okullo expressed his sincere thanks to Minister Engola for fulfilling his pledge. He highlighted that the new vehicle would significantly ease his ability to deliver pastoral services to communities, particularly in areas where transportation remains a challenge. Reverend Okullo also offered prayers for the Minister and his family, encouraging continued support for communities as a divine calling.

Reverend Okullo pledged to utilize the vehicle responsibly, committing to adhere to road safety regulations and show respect to fellow road users.

Archdeacon Welcomes Donation

The Archdeacon of Lira Archdeaconry, Reverend Jacob Acon, welcomed the donation, noting its importance in facilitating regular pastoral visits to Christians across the parish. Citing Proverbs 19:17, Reverend Acon thanked Minister Engola and urged Reverend Okullo to leverage the vehicle to expand pastoral outreach and ensure the wider dissemination of God's message.
