On International Youth Day, Lira City Vice Chairperson and Youth League representative, Hon. Angwech Pamela Engola, has called upon the youth in the Lango sub-region to transform challenges into opportunities. She emphasized that the day serves as a critical reminder of the youth's pivotal role in Uganda's development trajectory.

Addressing the global theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” Hon. Angwech highlighted the shared struggles of young people in Lira and other Least Developed Countries (LDCs). These include unemployment, the impacts of climate change, and resource limitations, all while harboring common dreams for jobs, education, and participation in decision-making processes.

With the current rainy season, Hon. Angwech specifically urged young people in Lango to actively participate in productive agriculture and income-generating activities. She pointed to government initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), NUSAF IV, and Emyooga as valuable resources that youth should utilize to foster wealth creation and self-employment.

The youth leader stressed the importance of proactive engagement, stating that young people are not just future leaders but present-day drivers of Uganda's transformation. She encouraged creativity and productivity, urging them to contribute hope and unity to their communities and the nation.

The commemoration of International Youth Day, established by the UN General Assembly, aims to spotlight youth issues and celebrate their societal contributions. It provides a platform for dialogue and showcases youth-led solutions for building inclusive and peaceful societies.
