The Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees today updated Parliament on the ongoing relief food distribution in Karamoja, confirming that the government has reached all 313,987 affected households across 480 parishes in 9 districts. Each household is receiving 20kg of posho and 10kg of beans, covering the months of July and August 2026.

The Minister also briefed Parliament on the government's countrywide early warning dissemination for the upcoming El Niño season. He noted that the government is using local radios, barazas, schools, RDCs, and district local government structures to ensure every citizen receives timely information to prepare for the anticipated weather challenges.

The government remains committed to supporting communities affected by climate shocks, and the Minister assured Parliament that distribution efforts are ongoing across the sub-region. He emphasized that no household in Karamoja will be left behind as the government continues to monitor the situation and respond accordingly.
